The event wants to attract young sailors to participate in the sailing sport. The tour tries to accomplish this by setting three racing formats (match, fleet and coastal racing). This way the teams have to find the right balance in different sailing conditions. A nice challenge for the sailors, but also attractive for the audience. The intensive inshore races and matchraces will be sailed near the coast, so spectators are very welcome to watch these races from closeby. The exhausting coastal races will be followed via the on board reporter material.
Inshore en coastal racing
The first three days of the S A I L I N G Tour of Holland are all about inshore en coastal racing. The first challenge is the inshore race in Den Helder, the official start of the Tour. For the sailors a great opportunity to get to know their opponents, before the coastal race to Hindeloopen on the same day. After a good night’s sleep it’s time for the next inshore, followed by a coastal race to Lemmer. From Lemmer there is another inshore race and a coastal with a finish in Enkhuizen on Friday.
The SToH is not complete without a matchrace. On Saturday July 15th, Enkhuizen offers the perfect location for matchracing. Spectators can find a nice spot in the harbour and watch the races right in front of them. The matchracing finals will be sailed around 16:00 hour, sit, relax and enjoy a drink while watching the finals. After the races the audience get a chance to step aboard the one design boats for a Pro Am race.
On Sunday July 16th it’s time for the finals. With a short inshore race in Enkhuizen and a thrilling final coastal race to Muiden, we will discover who the ultimate sailing team is going to be. The prize giving is planned around 17:00 hour at the KNZRV Muiden. The collaboration with the Delftse Student sailing association Broach, students and young sailors are directly attracted to the event. So on the finals day we will discover if the young sailors will be the ultimate sailing team, or the more experienced sailors. Come and join us from 12 to 16 July!
